Be Blessed

via

A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men on it were able to swim to a small, desert like island.  The two survivors, not knowing what else to do, agree that they had no other  recourse but to pray to God. However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay onopposite sides of the island.

The first thing they prayed for was food. The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land, and he was able to eat its fruit. The other man's parcel of land remained barren.

After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. The next day, there was a woman who swam to his side of the land. On the other side of the island, there was nothing.

Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, more food. The next day, like magic, all of these were given to him. However, the second man still had nothing.

Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that he and his wife could leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked at his side of the island. The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave the second man on the island. He considered the other man unworthy to receive God's blessings, since none of his prayers had been answered.

As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from heaven booming, "Why are you leaving your companion on the island?"  "My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them," the first man answered. "His prayers were all unanswered and so he does not deserve anything."

"You are mistaken!" the voice rebuked him. "He had only one prayer, which I answered. If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings."

"Tell me," the first man asked the voice, "what did he pray for that I should owe him anything?"

"He prayed that all your prayers be answered."

For all we know, our blessings are not the fruits of our prayers alone, but those of another praying for us. This is too good not to share...

My prayer for you today is that all your prayers are answered. Be blessed.
"What you do for others is more important than what you do for yourself"

This was shared with me by a friend; I hope you will share with your friends!Be

THIS IS JUST AN INCREDIBLE STORY !!!!

In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University ...

On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air.

The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully.

He got down on one knee, inspected the elephants foot, and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it.

As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his knife,

after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot.

The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments.

Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled.

Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away

Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son.

As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and

walked over to near where Peter and his son Cameron were standing

The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down.

The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.

Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter could not help wondering if this was the same elephant.

Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing, and made his way into the enclosure.

He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder.

The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Peter legs

and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.

Probably wasn't the same elephant.

This is for everyone who sends those heart-warming bullshit stories.

For those critics who read this video as an 'attack', or commentary on one specific religious/political/ideological group, a message: look deeper.

For those who accuse this video of condemning one entire population, a question: if this had been a story about an abusive dog owner, would you be suggesting I was condemning ALL dog owners? No. So don't be facile — stories don't have to represent every single experience. This video specifically addresses the folks who do go through events similar to this — and I've had literally 100s of messages saying, 'This was/is my experience!' — are they all 'wrong'? Just in case they aren't, this video stands for them

A Cuban In London is mostly
an entertaining read,
at times its discussions are intellectually challenging,
and its never a joke.

i highly recommend it,
especially for its Sunday postings
which always include a music selection.

January 30th's post includes guest bloggers
Judith Mercado and Jodi MacArthur in a lively
discussion on the topic of Religion and Faith.

go ahead, take a look-see,
you know that you want to . . .

LADY'S YEARLY EXAM

I went to the doctor for my yearly physical.

The nurse started with certain basics.

"How much do you weigh?" she asked.
"135," I said.
The nurse put me on the scale.

It turns out my weight is 180.

The nurse asked, "Your height?"
"5 foot 6," I said.
The nurse checked and saw that I only measure 5' 2"

She then took my blood pressure and told me that it is very high.

"Of course it's high!" I screamed, 'When I came in here I
was tall and slender! Now I'm short and fat!"

She put me on Prozac.

What a bitch

In this first-of-its-kind demo, Heather Knight introduces Data, a robotic stand-up comedian that does much more than rattle off one-liners -- it gathers audience feedback (using software co-developed with Scott Satkin and Varun Ramakrishna at CMU) and tunes its act as the crowd responds. Dorje Shugden - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dorje Shugden - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

"Dorje Shugden is regarded as the incarnation of Gelugpa Lama Dragpa Gyaltsen of Drepung Monastery, a contemporary of the Fifth Dalai Lama. Yet, Dorje Shugden's enlightened nature has been debated since his appearance in the 17th century.

With the current Dalai Lama's growing public opposition and subsequent 'explicit ban of the practice, this debate has escalated into what is known as the Dorje Shugden controversy."

Cat is summoned for jury duty in Boston; court rejects owners' appeal to disqualify him

Cat is summoned for jury duty in Boston; court rejects owners' appeal to disqualify him: "Anna filed to have her pet disqualified from the service requirement on the grounds he is 'unable to speak and understand English.' She even included a letter from her vet explaining that Sal is not a human being but a 'domestic short-haired neutered feline,' WHDH reported.

The court rejected the request, and as things stand, Sal will have to report for duty to Suffolk Superior Crown Court in Boston on March 23.

And what if Sal the cat is asked to weigh in on a case?

'He'll probably do a meow for the answer,' Anna said."
